If an individual receives income from the sale or exchange of cryptocurrency, they are obligated to declare this income by submitting Form 3-NDFL. This can be done online through the taxpayer’s personal account on the website of the Federal Tax Service of Russia (nalog.gov.ru). The declaration must include: • the amount of income from the disposal of cryptocurrency; • documented expenses incurred in acquiring the cryptocurrency (if any); • the calculated tax base; • the amount of tax payable (at a rate of 13% or 15%, depending on the amount of income and tax status). The deadline for submitting Form 3-NDFL is April 30 of the year following the reporting year, and the tax must be paid by July 15. Failure to submit the declaration or pay the tax may result in penalties and interest charges.
