As of today, Russian legislation does not prohibit companies from registering with and conducting transactions on cryptocurrency exchanges or through exchange services, including foreign platforms. Such activities are permissible provided they are not associated with the use of cryptocurrency as a means of payment within the territory of the Russian Federation, which is explicitly prohibited under Part 5 of Article 14 of Federal Law No. 259-FZ. The use of exchanges may be justified, for example, for investment purposes, asset exchange, or digital asset custody. In doing so, the company is required to maintain proper accounting and tax records, documenting transactions, tracking the movement of funds, and ensuring their inclusion in financial reporting. It is also important to take into account the provisions of currency control legislation, particularly when interacting with foreign platforms.
